Gualchierani Systems and LAIP collaborated in the development of S.T.A.R.R. Color, a novel automated and robotized dyeing system. A unit installed at Tintoria Silvia of Prato, Italy, a commission yarn dyer, is notable for its high level of flexibility. The unit operates at a low liquor ratio, which leads to savings of approximately 15 percent in dyes and dyeing assistants, and at a relatively low level of water, steam, and energy consumption. Very delicate fine denier yarns can be gently processed on the unit, which reduces end breaks and defects in weaving and knitting. The operating principle of this unit differs from conventional units in its handling system for yarn packages. The system consists of a loading device and a pressing device for the undyed yarn packages and a collecting device for the dyed yarn packages.
