An investigation evaluates dyeing processes from an ecological perspective. The mass balance of the materials used in the dyeing processes is derived from the load values of the products, as well as from an examination of the pollutant concentrations in the processing baths, which ultimately generate effluent. The investigation indicates that the total load value of a dye process can be calculated from the dye product load values. 5 refs.
