A method and a kier for degumming a silk fabric to remove sericin are disclosed. The degumming solution is heated in the kier to 120-130℃ and the fabric is immersed in the solution for 30-60min. The kier consists of a body containing a degumming chamer and a pair of heat exchanger chamber communicating at the top and bottom parts with the degumming chamber. IPC D06F.
