How dye structure affects disperse and solvent dye adsorption on nylon and polyester

This study examines the effect of different dye structures on the disperse dyeing of nylon and polyester. Three disperse and four solvent dyes of widely differing azo and anthraquinoid structures were used, and the amount of dye adsorbed was determined for each dyeing. Results show that dye structure and size, and fibre type had a profound effect on dye adsorption.
