Quality control and the centre selvedge dyeing defect

Instrumental methods of controlling the difference in colour between centre and selvedge are described. This defect should be checked at least twice during the production process: after dyeing and drying; and after finishing. Some cause of this defect are discussed, with reference to cotton destined for clothing dyed using reactive dyes and the pad batch method.
