Researchers studied the dyeing properties and effluent problems of textile mill water treatment systems. The study used such materials as alum, ferric, chloride, Evirofloc, and nut shells for the treatment of water samples. Jar test apparatus determined coagulation. A Bio-chem water analyzer kit measured pH, conductivity, and redox potential. A Spectronic 20D spectrophotometer measured dye uptake. Researchers concluded that nut shells, which offered both environmentally friendly properties and cost effectiveness, can be effectively used for water treatment at textile mills. 7 refs.
