Researchers investigated the dyeing of cellophane with C.I. Direct Blue, 1 Red 2, and Yellow 12 under pressures of up to 600 million pascals at 55 degrees centigrade. Dyeing of the cellophane occurred by rolling the cellophane and immersing it in a solution containing the dye and sodium chloride. The results indicated that the uptake of Yellow 12 increased only slightly, whereas the uptake of Red 2 and Blue 1 decreased markedly with an increase in hydrostatic pressure. The value of the change in volume for the adsorption of the dye for Yellow 12 was small and negative. Changes in volume for the adsorption of the dye for Red 2 and Blue 1 were positive and decreased with an increase in the hydrostatic pressure. 22 refs.
