An investigation of the trichloroacetic acid-methylene chloride treatment on the morphology of polyester yarns

Previous research has shown that the interaction of trichloroacetic acid-methylene chloride (TCAMC) solvent system with polyethylene terephthalate dissolves the PET. With this in mind it is expected that at certain lower concentrations of TCAMC treatment, the compact structure of PET will open up and as a result of molecular rearrangements, polymer morphological changes may occur. Due to this several physiso-chemical properties of the PET could be modified. This paper examines the effect of TCAMC reagent on structural and morphological change of different types of polyester yarns.
