Textile fibre recycling and recovery strategies

This paper reports on recent work that demonstrates that, like the established processes for conversion of polyester beverage waste into fibre, so polypropylene wastes may be included with virgin polymer during extrusion of geotextile quality orientated tapes and filaments. This opens opportunities for consumption of and hence recycling of considerable quantities of otherwise waste polymer and conversion into premier-quality geotextiles.
