The reaction of dyes with ozone is important from the viewpoint of ozone fading of colouring matter and dye wastewater treatment. Even through the structures of dyes are often complicated, ozone fading can be explained in terms of ozone attack at the most reactive site in the molecule. This chapter of the book describes the generation of ozone, the toxicity of ozone, some general reactions of ozone, the reaction of ozone with dyes, the reactivity of ozone with dyes, and ozone treatment of dye wastewater.
