Pollution control in textile wet processing: a case study

Environmental pollution has reached alarming proportions and the activities of textile wet processing units deteriorate the quality of water. Therefore it is the duty of processors to take the lead and make use of scientific methods for control of water pollution. Water pollution can be very effectively controlled by small processors as well as big processors by adopting the following measures: reducing the water consumption by adopting process change or modification; reducing the waste concentration by using optimum quantity of dyes and chemicals and using eco-friendly chemicals; and appropriate treatment.
