Artificial polymeric membranes can be used to purigy and recycle polluting waste water and to concentrate reusable products. The paper describes the membrane processes of ultrafiltration and inverse osmosis and discusses the purification and recovery of waste water in the textile sector. The processes are illustrated in diagrammatic form and costs and savings are tabulated.
