Allied Colloids supplies synthetic organic coagulants for removing color from dyehouse effluents. The addition of a suitable quantity of coagulant to an effluent promotes precipitation of dye residues to form small, insoluble particles. Subsequent flocculation promotes agglomeration of the particles. A typical color removal plant that utilizes this process comprises systems for a effluent/liquor collection and pH balancing followed by a color removal plant that includes systems for dye precipitation, precipitate particle agglomeration, and solid/liquid separation. The costs for such a facility include capital expenses for infrastructural changes plus equipment installation and operating costs, which include expenses for chemicals, power consumption, water consumption, and sludge disposal. After installation, cost savings result from reduced effluent contamination and the reuse of treated water.
