The dyeing industry currently operates under two industrial standards for color matching: the CIE94 formula, a linear equation accepted at a meeting of CIE TC 1-29; and ISO standard 105-J03, based on the hyperbolic equation CMC. A comparison of the two color formulae using three parameters--correlation coefficient, standard deviation, and wrong decision criteria--reveals that the CMC formula is better for industrial quality control. 7 refs.
