Kinetics of Peroxidase Catalyzed Decoloration of Orange II with Hydrogen Peroxide.

Research on the kinetics of peroxidase catalyzed decoloration of C.I. Acid Orange 7 with hydrogen peroxide measured the decoloration rate at 20 degrees centigrade and pH 9. The peroxidases tested included horseradish, Arthromyces ramosus, and soybean peroxidases. The decoloration rate was expressed as pseudo-first order reaction kinetics for all the peroxidases tested. The rate constants increased in the following order: soybean peroxidase〈horseradish peroxidase〈Arhromyces ramosus peroxidase. Rate constant values for horseradish peroxidase and Arthromyces ramosus peroxidase were significantly greater than that for percarbonate. The different reactivities of the peroxidase intermediates for the C.I. Acid Orange 7 were responsible for the different rate constants for the peroxidases. 6 refs.
