Shade variation in continuous dyieng and material density differences in fabrics - can on-line colorimetry help?

The relationship between fabric shade variation and the density of the fabric is examined. Woven cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics were used for the investigation. Parameters studied included weaving conditions, preparatory treatments and liquor application control in dyeing. The usefulness of on-line colorimetry for reducing crosswise and longitudinal shade variation in fabrics is assessed.
