Influence of direct dye structure on coverage of immatrue cotton fibre neps. [I]

This is the first half of an article concemed with the correlation between direct dye structure and nep coverage in dyeing. Nep coverage ability of the nineteen direct dyes tested appears to be governed by molecular weight of the dye and the total number of hydrogen bond-forming groups present in the dye molecule. A multiple regression analysis has been conducted to study this relationship.
