The transfer of laboratory dyeings in batchwise dyeing processes

Corrections in production dyeing are so costly that, as a rule, extra laboratory work is justified in order to be able to transfer recipes from the laboratory to bulk with greater reliability. Some sources of error and important factors in recipe transfer are discussed. The accuracy of working procedures must be checked. ,Non-sensitive and highly-compatible dyes should be selected. A systematic approach to laboratory work for computer colour matching should be followed. Data and mathematical interrelationships which describe the dyeing behaviour of the dyes can be an important aid here. Greater attention needs to be paid to the properties of the material and the dyeing machine.
