This paper is addressed mainly to the textile industry in the new federal states of Germany, though legislation is being changed for companies in the old states. Possible solutions for effluent treatment, in particular for minimizing the waste water output, are presented. There is a wide range of public credits and subsidies available at low interest rates. Even the planning costs can be financed in this way.
