Neuro-Fuzzy Modelling of Spectroscopic Data. Part A - Modelling of Dye Solutions.

Researchers investigated the applicability of an adaptive network based neural fuzzy inference system for modeling spectroscopic absorbance data in the visible region. Investigators reconstructed the absorbance spectrum for a model system consisting of a solution of red and yellow leather dyes. Application of an adaptive neural fuzzy inference system used a training data set consisting of 342 absorbance values. Application of Sugeno type adaptive neural fuzzy inference system analysis to the two inputs to the model, wavelength and concentration, generated the absorbance data output. The number of membership functions had a clear influence on the adaptive neural fuzzy inference system training results. Achievement of a good fit in modeling required five membership functions for both of the inputs. 10 refs.
