The volume of water used for jigger dyeing depends on fabric weight, the type of dyestuff, and the depth of shade to be produced. The most leveled and brightest shades are achieved with high volumes of water. Dyeing conditions are described for vat, reactive, azoic, and sulfur dyes. For jigger dyeing to be beneficial, the dyer must use efficient means for handling waste and energy. 11 refs.
