Alkaline crimping of cotton fabric by the resist method was examined. The effects of such basic parameters as the concentration of the sodium hydroxide solution, fabric structue, and the quantities of water-repellent agents and crosslinking agents in the resist printing paste on the quality and stability of the crimping were measured. To improve the crimping, butanol was added as a wetting agent to the padding liquor, and glucose was added to inhibit degradation in cellulose. 4 refs.
