Dyers, printers, and finishers are seeking ways to reduce the environmental impact of their processes. There are currently three main approaches that wet processors can adopt to minimize the effluent problem: reducing volume and toxicity of discharges; recycling and reusing water, colorant, and other useful constituents; and making use of alternative, "greener," chemicals and processing methods. A review of recent advances in these areas is given.
