EFFECT OF SELECTED CONCENTRATIONS OF REACTIVE DYES ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF COTTON (GADA) FABRIC

Reactive dyes are popular due to their ease of application and to their brilliant shades. A number of reactive dyes, including Procions, Cibacrons, and Remazols, are available. The effects of several concentrations (0.5 percent, 1 percent, 1.5 percent, 2 percent, 2.5 percent, 3 percent, and 3.5 percent) of Procion Yellow M4G and Neoreactive Pink MB on cotton gada fabric were examined. Such mechanical properties as thickness, crease recovery, bending rigidity, breaking strength, and breaking extention were considered. Fabric samples were desized, scoured, bleached, dyed, padded, air dried, and fixed with an alkaline solution. Then dyed samples showed an increase in hand, breaking strength, and elongation. Both dyes affected the fabric samples simiarly.
