Researchers are attempting to control batch dyeing processes by monitoring and adjusting individual dye concentrations in the dyebath. They plan to develop a neural network system that interfaces with a spectrophotometer to perform all color matching, neural network training, and system maintenance and have filed a patent application for a real time closed loop dosing invention. Researchers have successfully controlled nylon dyeing by real time closed loop dosing of a binary acid dye/chemical mixture. They intend to extend the study to tertiary dye mixtures.
