Ciba and Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company tested the Gaston 824 dyeing machine with a low wash. The test dyed approximately 400 pounds of 100 percent cotton jersey fabrics with 1.56 percent Cibacron Orange C-G and 1.98 percent Cibacron Red C-2G in 3 hours and 37 minutes with 9.1 gallons of water per pound. Of the 9.1 gallons of water per pound used to dye the jersey fabrics, the dyeing cycle used 4.4 gallons per pound. The Gaston 824 with low wash, combined with such high yield as Cibacron C, reduced water consumption and operating costs. 4 refs.
