Improvement of Anaerobic Degradation of Partial Streams from Textile Processing Effluent Via Ozone Treatment

Anaerobic treatments may be suitable for separating high load waste streams from the collective effluent of textile finishing plants. Researchers analyzed the composition and properties of textile wastewater, focusing on the anaerobic degradability of the various polymers used in sizing and printing as well as the influence of auxiliaries on the anaerobic degradability of polymer substances. Laboratory tests demonstrated that pretreating wastewater samples with ozone improved anaerobic degradation. 5 refs.
