Physicochemical analysis of effluent samples revealed that the effluent was deep yellow in colour with wool pulp odour. It had high levels of BOD, COD, nitrites, phosphates, iron, zinc, oil and grease. The effluent was completely devoid of dissolved oxygen and miroogranisms. When the effluent mixed with the river water, the characteristics of the river water were adversely affected.
