A relaxing/scouring machine for the processing of delicate fabrics is described. There is an increasing demand for units operating at low tension which can be used for woven and knitted fabrics. It is important for the fabric to dwell in hot liquor for a certain period of time. This applies to fabrics which are primarily to be relaxed, eg woven and flat warp-knitted goods from textured yarns, knitted and raschel goods. Features of a machine are presented which has a Megalax compartment which permits prolonged dwell times in hot liquor for relaxing, boiling-off, bleaching and soaping. Only a low liquor content is needed, as the drive drum serves as a displacer body. Sensitive pendulum rollers guarantee a fabric run at low tension. Sensitive expanding is achieved by a frequency-controlled drive.
