In order to decolorize dye waste before dumping it into the main sewer an electrochemical method was used. Laboratory testings, and decolorizing on a pilot test unit have led to the building of an industrial unit. The operation consists of anodic oxidation which allows the degradation of the colouring materials. This anodic oxidation works alone or with oxydising intermediates such as NaClO, O₂. The conditions for this electrolysis treatment have been adapted using the following parameters: the impace of the treated solution on the environment, and the process cost.
