Purifying of waste water from textile finishing by a membrane process (German)

Trials with a membrane filtration technique for treating finishing effluents are described. The method is found to be useful in treating partial waste water flows. The processing of total waste water flows should be avoided for technical and ecological reasons. A vital reason for this are the large quantities of waste water which would need large membrane areas to be installed. A two-stage process involving ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis for treating special categories of effluents is proposed. The factors influencing investments and operating costs are discussed.
