Fine Structure of Cupra, Tencel and Anisotropic Diffusion of Dye Molecules in Fibers.

Researchers applied a new preparation process, based on the ability of optical density to enhance the cross sectional views of fibrous materials, to detect the skin core structure of cupra and Tencel filaments. Microphotospectroscopic analysis determined the characteristic concentration gradient of dye molecules along the fiber axis. For both cupra and Tencel filaments, diffusion rate was a dominant factor at the initial stage of dyeing. An equilibrium state occurred depending on the fine structure of fibrous materials. 5 refs.
