Innovative new product for afterclearing polyester in the dyebath

In this paper a new afterclearing agent for use in polyester dyeing, launched recently by BASF AG, Germany, is described. The product, Cyclanon TX 5179, is claimed to give high wash fastness as well as a 30％ saving in time, a 40％ saving in water consumption and significanlty reduced environmental pollution. Details are given on its use in afterclearing of dyes used on polyester and polyester/cotton fabrics and a comparison made with a conventional process. Some information is also provided on the chemcistry of the product and its bioelimination.
