Dyeing and printing of Basofil fabrics (German) (Farben und Bedrucken von Basofil Geweben)

Basofil, a new BASF synthetic fiber based on a melamine resin, is characterized by high thermal endurance, flame retardancy, and good insulation properties. The fiber has found widespread use in the form of fabrics and nonwovens for heavy-duty heat-and fireproofing and for air travel and transport. A further field of application based on these properties is dyed and printed Basofil fabrics for light-duty worker protection and preventive fire protection of property. To prevail in this highly competitive market, it is essential to be able to supply appropriate fabrics in common shades. Dye classes, dyeing and printing processes were therefore sought that would meet the requirements of these fields of application. This article discusses the results of these findings.
