Laboratory trials have shown that the 'Infinity' dyeing method for acid dyes on nylon offers a higher color yield, a shorter dyeing time, and 100% exhaustion with little or no added auxiliary chemicals. It is thus a more environmentally friendly process than the conventional exhaust dyeing method. The fastness to washing, daylight and ozone showed no significant different from those of conventional dyeings. The results of our modeling studies confirmed the experimental results on the influence of dye distribution in the individual filaments and yarns on the perceived color depth. They clearly showed that the ring dyeing of all individual filaments in a yarn (decrease color yield) must be clearly distingusihed from dyeing of only the filaments on the yarn periphery (yarn ring dyeing, increased color yield).
