Application of enzymatic degradation for utilization of textile wastes. Optimization of the biodegradation process

The aim of this paper is to study the optimization of the cellulose biodegradation process for utilization of textile wastes from fibrous polyester-cellulose blends. A biodegradation process was carried out with the use of cellulolytic enzymes originated from the Trichoderma reesei strain. The optimization of cellulose degradation was analyzed on the basis of mechanical and chemical pre-treatment of the wastes, as well as the selection of process parameters such as enzyme concentration, substrate concentration, and reaction time.
