Influence of Dye Bath Components on Decolorisation Process.

Hydrogen peroxide activated with ultraviolet light constitutes an environmentally friendly method of oxidative decolorization for wastewater. A study compared the process with conventional decolorization processes. Researchers examined the influence of dyebath components on the decolorization process and the reduction of color intensity. The ultraviolet activated hydrogen peroxide decolorization method effectively removed color from textile reactive azo dyes. However, such chemicals as oxidizing agents and sodium hydroxide in the dyebath reduced the decolorization effect. 12 refs.
