A review of dyeing and finishing elastic fabrics focuses on critical operational parameters, which are notable for their diversity and number and depend on fabric type. The range of elastic fabrics include woven, warp knit, raschel knit, and circular knit fabrics manufactured from bare, wrapped, core spun, or twisted yarns with an elastane content of 1.5-55 percent. Blended fibers include wool, cotton, viscose, nylon, polyester, and polyacrylonitrile. Important properties are stretch and shrinkage propensity. In general, during dyeing and finishing, it is optimal to shrink the fabrics that have been subjected to tension in an aftertreatment, minimize the stresses to which the fabric is subjected throughout processing, and account for elastane resistance in any chemical treatment.
