Experiences in Dyeing of Fibre Blends of Lyocell and Wool.

Experiment in dyeing wool and lyocell blends used direct dyes for short times at low temperatures of 60 and 80 degrees centigrade. The dyeings had high levelness, deep shades, and satisfactory wetfastness properties. Dyeing for greater than 30 minutes at temperatures of greater than 80 degrees centigrade, however, were requisite for complete penetration of dye across the lyocell fiber cross section. The blends were dyeable with mixtures of direct dyes and acid, 2:1 metal complex, or reactive dyes with satisfactory levelness, depth of shade, tone-on-tone effects, and wetfastness properties without any degradation of fiber quality. A one bath procedural for 35 mintues at 95 degrees centigrade was optimal for the blends. 15 refs.
