Ultrasonic treatment of polyester with sodium hydroxide and dyeing

The polyester fabric is treated with sodium hydroxide with concentrations of 2.5％, 5.0％, 7,5％ and 10.0％ for 10 minutes and its multiples upto 60 minutes, and dyed with disperse dye at 1％ shade in the presence of ultrasonic energy. At this concentration and duration of the sodium hydroxide treatment on polyester fabric there is no significant loss in weight. However, the property like silk-like feel is induced due to the hydrolysis and ultrasonic energy. The dye uptake of the sodium hydroxide treated polyester fabric in ultrasonic energy gives the convincing result as in the conventional dyeing method.
