Waste water treatment using equipment produced by the Italian firm Led Italia is described. The company designs and produces vacuum evaporators with heat pumps for the treatment of industrial waste water. The polluted water is subjected to a process of separation which produces a distillate and a concentrate. The distillate is purified and demineralized water which can be disposed of in accordance with the current standards or re-used in the productive cycle. According to cirumstqances the concentrate can be re-used, subjeced to further treatment or sent for disposal. The process of separation by evaporation is a physical process and requires no chemical products. It can be used to separate suspended solids, metal ions, anions, polymers, fats and oils, surfactants and dyes from industrial waste water. The evaporators operate under vacuum and have a heat pump to reduce energy consumption.
