the article describes a system installed by ratti spa for the control of dyeing in several factories constituting one of the world's most important makers of high-fashion printed silks, and using daily 1800 batches of dye to produce annually about 5 million metres of fabric in thousands of designs. its objective is to rationalise the recording of thousands of dye recipes and make them easily accessible. the process of mixing the dye formulation is described as is the hardware and software supporting the control system
