a 26-inch-diameter test stand was fabricated to simulate an operating reactor environment. to initiate stress corrosion cracking, an artificial crevice was created by means of water chemistry control and graphite wool techniques. various nondestructive evaluation techniques including acoustic emission and ultrasonic monitoring during operation of the test stand, and dye penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, and electrical resistivity gauge inspections during shutdowns, were investigated. this research has resulted in an industry standard that will reduce costs and complexity of piping inspection and repair
