this paper discusses the effect of multiple washings on the wickability of uniform fabrics. ten types of uniform fabrics comprising of cotton, polyester cotton, polyester viscose and 100 polyester were subjected to 100 washings, and their wickability was measured by the wicking test. whereas fabric samples made from polyester viscose show the greatest wickability, the polyester sample exhibits practically no wickability. blends consisting of polyester and cotton show higher wickability in most cases. the effect of washings on the wickability shows an interesting trend in that an increase is observed after 25 washings; the results show that the combined effect of change in yarn structure and removal of finishes and opening of the structure could be the possible reasons.
