physico-chemical study on applying ultrasonics in textile dyeing

investigations were launched to determine both the individual and combined effects of ultrasonic cavitation and heat on dyeing cotton fabric with a direct dye. heat generated in the system upon application of ultrasonic waves of 40 khz frequency was determined using model equations and confirmed experimentally. the study has shown that the external heating needed in most dyeing processes can be dispensed with, either fully or partially. both cavitation and heat accelerate the rate of dyeing; however, the effect of the former is greater than that of the latter.
