for the fixation of dyestuffs on printed and dried fabrics, uniform saturation of the steam with sufficient moisture is a prerequisite for a high and reproducible dye yield. current techniques being used to control steamer conditions include: steam saturation without any measurement, water injection based on measured temperature, and saturation using nozzles submerged in water at bottom of steaming chamber. the paper introduces a new technique for controlling steaming conditions of dyed textile fabrics in an ager using infrared radiation and differential pressure combined with microprocessor technology. the applications include steaming (aging) processes requiring saturated steam for development of printing pastes on such fibers as acrylics, acetate, nylon, wool, cotton, flax, and hemp, etc. ; and any process requiring a uniform degree of wet saturated steam
