an attempt was made to study changes in test strength, abrasion strength, hand and supermolecular structure of cuprammonium rayon fabrics and filaments by enzymatic hydrolysis with aqueous solution of the cellulase. for this purpose, the plain fabrics of cuprammonium rayon were treated with immersion process or pad roll process by using aqueous cellulase (trichoderma viride) solution at 37 $degree$ c and 60 $degree$ c for various period. the extent of hydrolysis was changed corresponding to the treating condition. tear strength, abrasion strength, and hand were estimated for the hydrolyzed fabrics. the surface structure of treated filament was observed by scanning electron microscopy and the supermolecular structure was estimated by wide angle x-ray diffraction and dynamic mechanical viscoelasticity. the physical properties decrease with an increase in the hydrolysis, especially the abrasion strength of the fabrics which treated with pad-roll process decreases drastically. a 10 hydrolyzed fabric by the immersion process and a 15 hydrolyzed fabric by the pad-roll process give the silkiest hand on themselves respectively the strength and the hand are well balanced by 10 to 30 hydrolyzed fabric by immersion process. with an increase in hydrolysis, crystallinity index increases, a peak value of tan $delta$ (tan $delta$ )//m//a//x decreases, and a peak temperature of tan $delta$ t//m//a//x shifts to higher temperature. it becomes evident that a partial hydrolysis of cellulose by aqueous cellulase solution brings about preferentially in the amorphous region of low packing den
