it is shown that a light milling after dyeing will reduce the hygral expansion of piece-dyed fabric. this simple procedure provides the finisher with a corrective approach to controlling the hygral expansion of piece-dyed fabric. only a light milling is required on pure-wool fabrics, and the subjective changes in handle and surface appearance are small. the procedure has been shown to be applicable to a range of fabric masses, including lightweight fabrics, for which tailoring problems caused by excessive hygral expansion are greatest 10 refs
