this paper deals with the fundamental principle of di-electric heating (including the terms radio-frequency and microwave heating), comparison with conventional heating, merits and demerits of radio-frequency heating and application at various stages of textile manufacturing processes. reduction in labor, water, chemical and total energy costs are the major features of this heating system conversion of radio-frequency energy can be as high as 80, whereas with conventional heating systems, it is no better than 37. despite the glut in the textile industry, manufacturers in india are expected to adopt radio-frequency heating to reduce cost by energy savings, particularly with growing use of this system in the textile industries abroad.
