microwave, radio-frequency and infra-red devices: their uses and potential in industry

the objectives of this project were to (a) provide background information on the existing industrial uses of three electromagnetic radiation devices, microwave, radio-frequency and infra-red; and, (b) identify the significance and probable applications for these electrical technologies in canada. reviews of technical papers and discussions with equipment manufacturers, users and international experts were conducted to provide the necessary background information. for each electrotechnology, the advantages, limitations, selection criteria, principles of operation and safety aspects are included to aid utility personnel in understanding how they work and where they have been successfully applied.
